2.11 - The One with the moment

I saw this on TV the other day...guess what they were advertising? I took out the last line so it didn't make it too blatenly obvious...

A Moment, if you please,
moments can be short,
moments can be long.
There are moments of joy,
moments of sorrow,
moments of passion.

Moments you'll never forget,
moments you've already forgotten,
moments you didn't get.
There are awkward moments,
senior moments,
moments of truth,
and momentary lapses of judgement.

People will ask for a moment,
share a moment,
"I need a moment",
"You got a moment?"
"Hey, wait a moment!"
You can take a moment
make a moment,
spoil a moment.

And if all the stars align at just the right moment,
that moment can be perfect.
Moments can define you,
moments can delight you,
and moments can change your life.

Here's to the moment,
and squeezing all you can out of every, last, single one of them.
Pursue the moment...

2.09 - The One with the 100th post

What a wierd night...things seemed normal until around 8pm ish. We were up in the Youth Room jamming and all of a sudden the power went out. Not just at the church but all around us. We went to look outside to see how far the outage was...look to the west...we see lights...look to the east....nothing. Look north...lights...look south...lights. Apparently a transformer blew and it effected about 2/3's of my town...very odd indeed. The power did come back on about 2 hours later...much better than a few summers ago where all of Ontario, and most of New York state went dark for almost a day.

well would you look at that...this is post # 100. Hard to believe that I've been at this so long...I hope you've enjoyed reading my quirky ramblings and will stick around for 100 more...

2.08 - The One with the singing sensations

The 5th season of American Idol has just recently begun...and one thing has occured to me this time around more so than years past...

Why is it that the really cocky contestants, the ones who say that they are all that and a bag of potato chips, the ones who think they are the be all and end all of the music industry...can't sing? The ones that can sing...and have real talent...don't know that they have it? I wonder if those rejects, when they watch themselves on TV come to realize that they cannot sing...

Now if I was ever auditioning for an 'Idol' show...I think I'd have a 50/50 chance of making it to the next round. I know I can sing...but I know I'm really not that good...there are people that are far more deserving than I. I will stick to the karaoke bar, leading worship and of course...the shower.

2.07 - The One with the election

2 words to describe the weekend...

WOW

ouch

I was back up at MBC this time with kids my age...and we had a blast. Speaker was great...challenged us in many different ways. The Penny Merchants were there to lead worship in song...and of course the food was amazing. The weather was warm enough to walk around in a hoody...but cool enough to hold the snow. The "ouch" part of the weekend happened when I decided to sacrifice my body for the good of the volleyball team, dive and dig a spike...my hip was greeted by the rock hard tile gym floor. Also...it didn't help my cause when the so called mattresses that they have placed on the oh so sturdy bunk beds are just a little softer than the floor. But...no pain...no gain right? Just think...I get to go back in a couple weeks with the highschool kids...can't wait for that.

We now have a new government in this fine country of ours...last night I went to my first ever Election party...mainly I went for fear of getting drop kicked. I really didn't care what the outcome of the election was...I voted...I let my voice be heard...the guy I voted for won in my riding...yippeee...I think he's going to be a backbencher anywayz. I still wish that there was a space so I could have voted for Pedro...I have some wild dreams that he could have made come true.

2.06 - The One with the ice rink

I have a confession...I can't skate...well...more so that I can't stop on skates. Yesterday afternoon as I stepped out my door I was greeted by an ice rink made from the fabulous freezing rain. I literally slid all the way down my driveway...oh so fun. It was even more fun to watch my neighbour try to park his car into his driveway. I would have helped him by pushing his car...but who are we kidding...if his all season radials can't get any traction...what will my Nike ACG's do?

This morning my brother calls me and tells me he's not going to school because of a snow day...it's +3 outside...threatening to rain...but I don't see any snow outside on the roads. Sure the rain might turn into ice again...but if this was back in Saskatoon where I grew up..they would have been told to suck it up and goto school...Ontarioians...weak I tell you...weak!

2.05 - The One with the beeping

ahhh shopping...how I love thee. Goal of the night...get new kicks for me...I needed new ballin' shoes cuz I ripped up my other pair. So, my entourage and I (Jonny and Trav-Who) walk into the Scarborough Towne Centre and the first store just happens to be Sport Chek. We go in...check out the shoes...I see some that I like...but I don't get them...there are other sports stores in the mall so if need be...I'll come back later. We then wander into HMV where we each pick up a lil something something.

Now the problem with buying cds/dvds is the fun magnetic strip that is included in the packaging. It's supposed to be a security device so that when you walk out of the store and you're item has not been de-magnetized...the big white security thing will flash and beep at ya. Usually, the cashier is pretty good at helping you out so you don't have to stand there saying, ''uhhh...I JUST bought this...why are looking at me?" My cashier...not as helpful...if this was a resturant...I would have asked for my tip back. So I beep as a walk out of the store...walk back in...get aother yahoo employee to fix the problem. He does what he has to do and problem solved right? So we think...

From that moment on...every single store that we walked into that head the security beeping thing...went off as I ENTERED the store. When I exited..NOTHING...walk back in...BEEP BEEP BEEP...one time we thought it was Jonny beeping...nope...it was me.

But mission accomplished...I came out of the mall with a new pair of kicks and a bunch of other stuff as well...it was a good and successful trip.

Now Lesley has been saying that she has a problem because she keeps buying little outfits for her bunny...I think this picutre will make you feel a whole lot better...

2.03 - The One with the debate

Contrary to what you may think...I am not going to blog about the debate that was held tonight...to be honest with you...I don't really care...I'm voting for Pedro 'cuz he says if I do...he'll make all of my wildest dreams come true.

IF you haven't been reading the comments recently...there has been some discussion on my header picture at the top...we are trying to decide what kind of bird it is...one suggestion is an eagle...the other some sort of fececial hawk (ya...I made a word up...so what?)...and I don't really know what it is. But if you look at it closely...it maybe just a seagul...ya I got nothing...the floor is open...debate away...

2.02 - The one with the jam

so...Sunday night...not much to do right? Not so...a few of us decided to get together and hold a little jam session. That's right...we can do more than just sing karaoke...I think its more fun playing and singing as a band then singing karaoke as a group...but that's me. We did an awesome version of Bedouin Soundclash's When the Night Feels my Song and of course The Killers: All These Things That I've Done. Can't wait to jam again...maybe one day when we're really good we have a concert....ha...
