Who watches the Watchmen?
Being a comic book fan, I've heard of Watchmen, but I never actually read it until I started seeing trailers for the movie. So I picked up my brothers copy and read through it pretty quickly. It's not your typical comic and it really did read more like a paperback novel rather than a comic book. Having seen my share of comic book movies, I wasn't sure how they could pull this one off. You've got your good (The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2, 300, Sin City), the bad (Fantastic Four, Daredevil) and the ugly (Batman & Robin). I heard Zach Snyder (who did 300) was the director...so I knew that if anyone could pull this movie off...it would be him.
So I went to go see Watchmen this past weekend and was no disappointed. The movie was long, and did drag at parts, but it was one of the closest comic book adaptations I have ever seen. Although some parts were left out (probably due to time restrictions), some parts were different than the book, it still held the same backbone of the graphic novel. Jackie Earle Haley is Rorschach...he does an amazing job of bringing that character to life. The rest of the actors were good...but Haley's Rorschach is something else.
I can't recommend this movie to everyone...it's not your typical comic book movie. There's a deep story and at times is very violent. It's definitely not for kids. If you thought The Dark Knight pushed it...Watchmen pushes it even further. If you've read the graphic novel...this is a must see.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, but at over 2hrs I don't think I'll make Rebecca sit through it.
