4.85 - The One with the real story

So my previous post was about that guy that got arrested on Friday...here's what the local paper published on what happened...

On Friday, June 27 at 9:15 p. m., Cobourg Police approached a man walking in the area of the entrance to Victoria Park trailer park. He was swearing.

Police say they started to ask the man questions and quickly determined he had been drinking and was bound by a probation order which included a clause prohibiting consumption of alcohol.

As police attempted to arrest the man and take physical control of him, he ran from the officers. After a brief foot chase, police say, he was apprehended and charged with escaping custody.

Police say the accused be belligerent with officers, kicking and flailing about in an attempt to avoid being handcuffed. He resist the officers' attempts to restrain him and both officers were hurt, police report. The officers did not require medical attention, but both received abrasions on their arms, hands, and legs and one officer is suffering from a sore back.

A 20-year-old Cobourg man is in police custody. He has been charged with two counts each of assault with intent to resist arrest and failing to comply with probation orders and one count of escaping lawful custody.

...not as exciting as I hoped it was going to be.

4.84 - The One with the mist

We were down checking out the opening of the Waterfront Festival tonight and an errie mist came over the beach...

On a regular day you're supposed to be able to see the pier...it was kinda creepy...then the night got even more exciting when we heard a cop yelling at some punk...then we heard the sirens from a few police cars speeding down to where the yelling was happening...

They flew down Division Street to where to Rotary tents are to arrest some guy who struggled and was cursing at the cops. I don't know exactly happened...but if I was to speculate...I'll guess that the perp was tampering with the ATM trailer in th picture.

But then again...he could have just had an argument with the first cop and it just got out of hand. In any case...I got to witness the first arrest of the Waterfront Festival...and Canada Day is still 4 days away...

4.83 - The One with the price to pay...

It's been awhile since I've posted something...I've been busy. In the middle of moving into the new apartment...among other things that are going on. Today Rogers announced their prices for the new 3G iPhone for Canada. Cheapest plan is $60/month and gives you 400 MB of data, 150 weekday minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends. Not too bad...but then you'll have to add Caller ID, text messages and call forwarding etc... that's another $15-20/month. And finally the monthly $7ish service access fee. So you'll be paying about $90/month plus taxes. That's about $50/month more than I pay now for my cell phone. I'm rethinking my stance on the iPhone...unless I get a sweet raise and somehow can afford it...I'll wait until Rogers offers something cheaper...

4.81 - The One with Armin

Do you remember Sim City and how fun that was to make your own urban masterpiece? Then The Sims came out and you were able to live your own virtual life? Well the guy that created those games has out done himself yet again...introducing Spore. Now you have the power to create your own creature. Make it evolve and guide it through the 5 stages of evolution...Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Or just have fun creating stuff. The Creature Creator demo is out now and I've only had a few minutes to play around with it...let me introduce you to Armin:

4.80 - The One with 3.0

What are you waiting for? Go now and download Firefox 3.0! If you're still using Internet Explorer I question your motives. Now the question is...will Mozilla's servers be able to handle to people trying to download 3.0 today long enough to break the single file download record?

4.79 - The One with Sam's

oh...I'm so tired...I need to go back to bed...but nope....Monday morning has rolled around and work needs to be done. Oh well...maybe I'll go to bed earlier tonight...

My brother and I checked out The Incredible Hulk movie this weekend. Not to be confused with the previous Hollywood version of The Hulk that completely bombed and was horrible. This one was actually pretty good My favourite part was when The Hulk was fighting the big bad guy on the streets of what was supposed to be NYC (shot in Toronto). You could clearly see the Sam the Record Man flagship store all lit up. It was a nice tribute to the store that had been a landmark in the city.

4.78 - The One with the shredding

I'm in the process of moving, so I'm going though my files and shredding stuff that I don't need anymore. It's amazing how much paper you accumulate over the years. Bills, school papers, bank statements, and even more bills. Through it all, I found a receipt for gas from 2001...I got 36.59 liters of gas for $21.00. That comes out to $0.574 per liter. It was $1.299 a liter this morning...ouch

4.77 - The One with the 3G iPhone

Check it out!!! The just announced 3G iPhone...available in Canada and 21 other countries on July 11th! I want this...but I'm scared of how high the data plan will be. If it's the same as what I pay now...I'm so getting this. Only time will tell...ok Rogers...it's now your turn not to screw this up.

Ya i know...I just got a new cell phone this year (Motorola Razr2 - which is still a sweet phone. I love it) and I have an iPod Touch...BUT did I mention that the 3G iPhone has integrated GPS, it's sleeker and thinner than the first one. Oh and it's only $199!!

It will be mine...

4.76 - The One with Wii Fit

I finally found Wii Fit last week and have been working at it everyday for at least 30+ minutes a day. I knew from the start that I'd probably be a little overweight...so it didn't surprise me during the first body test. I was slightly over the normal BMI bar...and over the last week I've dropped down to the normal. But last night as I did my daily body test it said I gained 2.5 lbs. I guess that could be the case since on Saturday we did go to a buffet for my parents anniversary party. Not satisfied with it...I did the body test again...and it said I gained 0.9 lbs since my last Body Test...which was less than a minute before. I don't know what to think...I'll check it out tonight and see what's going on. Either way...I'm really liking Wii Fit. It's pretty fun. The yoga stuff is pretty crazy...I like it.

One last thing...this is from Not Always Right

(A man of at least 80 years of age came up to my checkout lane. Here’s what happened as I was bagging his last item.)

Me: “Man, I just don’t think this is gonna fit in here.”

Customer, completely straight-faced: “That’s what she said.”

Me: “I’m sorry?”

Customer, still straight-faced: “That’s what she said.”

(Needless to say, I nearly died of laughter. If there were only more grandfathers like that out there.)

4.75 - The One with the second national anthem

dunt da DUNT da dunt...

The familiar tune of the Hockey Night in Canada theme may have been played for the last time. The agency representing the composer of the theme says that CBC has declined to enter into a new licensing agreement for the song for next NHL season. Hum the first few notes of that song to any Canadian and they will no doubt be able to recognize it...it's considered Canada's second national anthem. Hope they keep playing it...

listen to it here

4.73 - The One with Numnah

34.7 seconds...34.7 SECONDS!!! That's the difference between going back to Pittsburgh for game 6 and hoisting the Cup in victory. Then came the 3 OT's and the heart breaking Penguins goal. I guess we still have 2 more shots at winning the Cup. Let's Go Wings!

Anyone catch the National Spelling Bee? I saw that it was on TSN on Friday...TSN...short for The Sports Network. I didn't know spelling was a sport. I think they should have a Gaming Network where they show Poker, Billiards, Darts, Dog Shows, and spelling bees. Keep that other stuff off of the sports channels. That being said...this clip was from the ABC broadcast...

I picked up Wii Fit today...probably going to get my butt kicked by it...I might need a numnah after this...

4.72 - The One with 1 more win

crazy weekend...Friday night, a few of us headed up to the 'Shwa to Neb's Fun World...and let me tell you...it's one fun world. I found out that I really do suck at bowling. I'll stick to Wii Bowling...cuz I'm a pro on that one. Saturday we played a pretty good game of softball. I'm saying a pretty good game because my team obliterated the opposition. I know it was supposed to be a 'fun' game of pickup...but...that doesn't mean I'm not going to keep my own stats. Batted 1.000 with 2 doubles and a single. Scored 3 runs with 5 RBI's. Played a good defensive game at my usual position at second base. Although during the second game we played...I was out in left field when Adam hit am inside the park home run because I failed to make the highlight reel shoestring catch. Oh well...that's why I don't play in the outfield.

Yesterday was my brother's birthday and my parent's threw him a surprise party...good times...he had no idea. Not he's 18...legal age to...vote and by lottery tickets. I remember when I turned 18...man I'm old. My back is killing me too...I took some Robax Platinum before work today...now I'm feeling drowsy...oops.

In other news:

I saw this on Digg today:

FireNes allows you to play around 2500 Nintendo games, without the need to download anything or emulator or roms. Super addictive - prepare to do no work whatsoever! click here to download

If you're not using FireFox as your main browser...I ask you one question...why?

[via Digg]

One more thing...my Red Wings have a chance to close out the series and win their 4th Stanley Cup in 11 years tonight. LET'S GO WINGS!!
