2.82 - The One with the unprecedented contract

Toady the New York Islanders signed their starting goalie, Rick DiPietro to a $67.5 million, 15-year deal. That's right...15 years. That's what you call job security...especially if you're a professional athelete. Any time you could sustain a career ending injury. Congrats to DiPietro...but to the Islanders management...what were you thinking?

The only other athelete to have a longer contract was Magic Johnson, who signed a 25-year deal with the Lakers back in 1981...that means his contract expires this year. He retired in 1991 after contracting HIV...15 years of being paid and not playing...I can handle that.
