2.20 - The One with the feel good story

Looks its my one hundred and eleventy first post!!

Every so often there is a great sports story, this one is no different. It's about an autistic highschool basketball manager who's head coach decided to put him in the game just for him to experience what it would be like to play a game. Nobody could have predicted the outcome. Check out this video.

2.19 - The One with the frosted tips

It's -12 degrees celcius, and I decided to go sit in Trav's hot tub. Mid way through the session...he leans over with his fogged up glasses and stares somewhere above my head. I'm not entirely sure what he's looking at...then he starts giggling like a little girl. "Ha ha ha look at your hair...its white at the tips!"

Now being chinese I'm used to seeing this...frosted tips. My girlfriend in college once asked me why I didn't "frost" my tips...my reply..."I'm not filipino". After coming back into the house...Trav tells his dad that my hair was white, much like his...to his response..."oh you mean distinguished"...much better

2.18 - The One where we can't score a goal

3 games...shut out 2-0. Canada had one of the most talented teams but we couldn't score a goal. I don't blame Gretzky for picking this team...I don't blame our country's pressure to win...I don't blame the bigger ice surface...

We didn't play well enough to deserve to win...we took stupid penalties, we were out played, skated and out classed in every single aspect of the game. Congrats to the Russians, I hope you win the Gold...you sure played like you wanted it more. Now on the other hand...our women's program just dominated...why don't they get the publicity that the men do? Now I know how it feels to be a Toronto Maple Leafs fan...suckas

A Shout out for the 2 golds and 2 silvers that Canada brought home today...I'm now jumping on the curling bandwagon!!! Let's go Brad Gushue and your rink...bring home the gold.

2.17 - The One with the Flu-like symptoms

Being a legal guardian has its perks...I suppose...yesterday I got an email from the Headmaster of TCS where my "kid" goes to school. For those of you who don't know, Trinity College School is a prep school and we (the real parents) pay a nice tuition for him to go there. Check it out...

Dear Parents,

We are experiencing a high number of students with flu-like symptomsat TCS. As a result, I would like to make you aware of some of themeasures we are taking at the School.

First and foremost we are postponing all due dates on assignments, presentations and tests. In short, "nothing" is due this week. It is our hope that without the added burden of these formal evaluations, students will get to bed sooner, or in some cases, stay at home and get the necessary rest that is required without worrying about the penalties to do so!

Day students are encouraged to stay at home if they are feeling unwell; boarding students will be accomodated by allowing a "sleep-in"on Thursday and discouraged from attending classes altogether if theyare also feeling unwell. Please note that all busing will be "as per usual". So, if your child is feeling up to it, then we will still be running programme.

I have attached a "modified schedule" prepared by our Dean ofFaculty, Mr. Elsley, for this Thursday February 23rd. If you are in the Senior School, I would ask that you review. The key element of theattachment is that we will be running a shortened day" in theafternoon on Thursday. In other words, while our buses will still runon time, classes will not begin until 12:30. (So, day students are welcome to arrive at 12:30 if they have their own transportation and boarders are welcome to have an extended sleep!)

I would reiterate that the intention of this modified schedule is to provide better conditions to allow for student rest. Your support inenforcing bed times would be appreciated! Thank you for your support. All the very best.

2.13 - The One with the Word Verification

So my Super Bowl predictions were a little off...but the Steelers did win...congrats to Jerome Betis on winning in his home town and retiring on top...to Coach Bill Cower...for sticking with this team for 15 years and finally winning...and to Big Ben...the sophmore QB who's the real deal...although I still think his TD in the 1st half should have been called back. Regardless it was a fun game to watch. Play of the game...the trick play that had Roethlisberger hand off to Parker, who in turn reversed the ball to wide reciever Randel El. He had Ward wide open and threw it 43 yards for the touchdown.

Just for the clarification for Van Dan...5 quarters in football including the 1/2 time show, and for TravWho...the team in yellow scored 21 and the team in green had 10.

my word verification of the day is "soewogy" What's a soewogy?

2.12 - The One with the left handed strike

After the Dock we decided to go bowling...I really suck at this game. I'm lucky if I get 100. So my first game I bowled with my right hand...i think I got 65...pretty brutal I know....also...no strikes in that game...maybe 1 spare. Second game, first frame I used my left hand...STRIKE....I can't say I did much better...I scored a 90 something using my left hand the entire game. Perhaps if I started to care about bowling I'd do much better...somehow I don't think that's ever ging to happen.

My Super Bowl XL predictions: the pregame show will be oh so boring, Mick Jagger will trip and fall during the Half Time Show, and Steelers by 3.
